Alone Again Or
Referring to a continuous art theoretical discourse on the reading of painting and photography and their self-referentiality Danysz’s recent works are dealing with Image Production, without using archetypal or figurative forms.
In the exhibition the artist shows monochrome images made out of silicone, which are framed with aluminium. The slim frame shapes the delicate matter, but not only, it also works as a casting mold and thus is crucial for the product. By adding pigments into the silicone Danysz creates surfaces with an intense and deep color effect with reflections of their surroundings.
Like the Silicone Paintings the steel sculptures play with the viewer’s expectations. By mounting industrial parts like handles or casters to them, they appear to be functional objects, but might not meet the expectations.
Danysz’s works have an immediate impact on the viewer. Without giving any hints for their interpretation, they at the same time appear to be representing something. Aspects like color and form induce the viewer to determine his own interpretation. „In the end“, says Danysz, „decisions about color or form are irrelevant for my work. What counts is the information that can be extracted, like a detail, taken out of the big picture.“
